Green Smoothies All Around: Mini Series, Week 4: Saturday Morning Chocolate Green Smoothies
When my husband was growing up, his dad would run every single day {he still does and he just turned 53}. On Saturday mornings he would return with a carton of chocolate milk for himself and one for my husband and his sister. It was a family tradition and my husband has tried to keep it up in our family as well {except for the running, lol}. Now that we don't drink cows milk we have found the chocolate green smoothies are an EXCELLENT substitute.
Saturday Morning Chocolate Green Smoothies
1. Fill the blender with your choice of spinach or kale.
2. Slowly add your favorite chocolate non-dairy milk (we LOVE Chocolate Almond Breeze) until there is just enough to blend the greens really well.
3. Add a frozen banana or two.
4. Next you can add a big spoon full of peanut butter (if you like that sort of thing).
5. A couple Tbsp of milled flax seed, chia seeds, or wheat germ {or all of the above} (optional).
***Add more chocolate "milk" as you go to get the desired consistency.
Now go sit with your kids in the sunshine and soak up those beautiful rays of Vitamin-D {if it's raining and cold it's fine to enjoy a family favorite Saturday morning cartoon as well}.
